Earlier this month, I caught Natan Sharansky on the sidelines of “Contemporary Antisemitism 2026” at the University of Haifa. I had a few minutes to speak with him before he took the stage to discuss a new book in which he wrote the foreward, so I asked him a question I’d been sitting on for a while: does he, as someone who spent nine years in Soviet prison for the crime of wanting to leave and spent his life being jammed, watched, and cut off, see any of his old enemy in our world today?
Basically, does the KGB have an heir, and is it algorithmic?
